Software Donations Help Students Help Themselves

Das macht Schule (This sets a precedent) is a German, independent, private, nonprofit initiative. It encourages students to take responsibility for themselves and their school, by creating their own world using the Internet. The ultimate goal is to revive self-motivation and a sense of community across German society.

Das macht Schule operates a web platform, creates project templates, and motivates schools to start a project. This may include designing of classrooms by students or even a local climate protection project. The initiative supports schools by operating a hotline, providing support to obtain funding, and facilitating connections with the business community. It also distributes PCs unwanted by businesses to schools.

Das macht Schule received a donation of Adobe Acrobat and Photoshop through Stifter-helfen.de IT for Nonprofits, a TechSoup Global Network partner in Germany. The donation helped the organization to upgrade its promotional materials, process images for its website, and print materials and create downloadable documents.
